GenKyoTex is a product-driven biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of innovative therapeutics blocking the source of production of oxygen radicals in a specific manner to meet unmet medical need.
GenKyoTex is the world leader for the development of NADPH oxidases inhibitors with first-in-class molecules.
GenKyoTex focuses on the discovery and development of novel drugs targeting a novel family of enzymes so-called NADPH oxidases (NOX), consisting of at least 7 different members. These enzymes play an important role in the functioning of the human organism, but under various disease conditions, they get overactive and thereby lead to disease. Thus, as opposed to antioxidants, drugs targeting NOX enzymes would attack the problem at the source in a more specific manner.
GenKyoTex focus on the specific sources of free radicals in age-associated diseases and develop drugs that prevent overshooting free radical generation. Age-associated disease where free radicals play a key role where the GenKyoTex approach provides innovative therapeutic concept (targeted antioxidative therapy) include idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, metastatic renal cell carcinoma, diabetic nephropathy, diabetic retinopathy, atherosclerosis, lung adenocarcinoma, amyothropahic lateral sclerosis, diabetic hypertension, myocardial infarction, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, age- and diabetes-associated kidney failure, age-associated hearing loss.
GenKyoTex is the fruit of an international collaboration of well-recognised scientific experts in the field of free radical generating enzymes. GenKyoTex unites the efforts of international research groups in Europe, Asia and the US as well as of an innovative Geneva infrastructure. GenKyoTex is located in Plan-Les-Ouates near Geneva, Switzerland
